IJL Bright Young Gems 2010

August 9th, 2010

As mentioned in an earlier post, I was nominated for the Bright Young Gems 2010 by Hilary Alexander of The Daily Telegraph. We were thrilled to learn that we were successful and amongst the final 5 to be selected who will be exhibiting at the International Jewellery Fair held at Earl’s Court in September. Now in its 6th year, the Bright Young Gems initiative is well-known within the industry for unveiling future industry stars. It provides the designers with a unique commercial platform as they begin to establish their reputations for producing outstanding contemporary jewellery.

I have been busy putting together an exciting collection and I will be in the Design Gallery on stand C40 from Sunday 5th September – Wednesday 8th September so please do come along and have a look. Please have a look at the IJL Podcast where Hilary Alexander discusses what she looks for when choosing a Bright Young Gem. Hope to see you there!

Amazon Pendant Event

June 30th, 2010
On July 2nd we held the unveling of the Amazon Pendant at The Tryon Gallery. The aim of the evening was to raise funds and awareness for communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon affected by oil dumped by US conglomerates through the sale of the pendant. The gallery was transformed into a rain forest with the help of Orlando Hamilton’s beautiful flowers and a few exotic pets. Proceeds from each pendant sold will be donated to the small grants programme. Franco’s provided delicious canapes and drinks. I am delighted to be able to do my bit for such a worthwhile cause.

My pet python Mali now has some new friends in the form of this ring and a pendant.  Every time you glance down at your hand, it’s smiling up at you.  A constant companion. This is currently available in 18kt white gold with black and white pave diamonds.

The long awaited official unveiling of the ‘Amazon’ pendant, which I discussed in my last post is taking place in June and I have exciting plans to make it a really wonderful evening. The event is in association with Global PR, Franco’s restaurant and Orlando Hamilton floral designs.  The pendant will be available to buy online and in store on Thursday 3rd June. Make sure you get your order in early as these are limited edition charity pieces.   All proceeds are being donated to help the indigenous people of the Ecuadorian Amazon through the small grants programme.

Victoria Tryon’s Amazon Pendant For Charity

April 13th, 2010

I have designed a piece of jewellery to raise awareness for the plight of the indigenous people in Ecuadorian Amazon. I was inspired to do this when I travelled to Ecuador to visit my sister Zoe. Zoe spends her time living and working with many Amazonian cultures, sustainable development projects and communicating their issues.

My Sister and I in Ecuador

During decades of drilling by a large US conglomerate, 17 million gallons of crude oil were spilled, and 917 unlined crude pits were left behind. As a result, local people have since suffered a wave of birth defects, illness, cancers, and death. Tens of thousands of community members have had their water supply poisoned, more than 1,400 are reported to have died of cancer and thousands more have been afflicted by other oil-related illnesses. This image by Clare Kendall captures the situation well:

There will be 50 limited edition pieces of this symbolic pendant and here is your exclusive preview:

Victoria Tryon Amazon Pendant

Available in 18kt yellow gold with rock crystal briolettes and 18kt white gold with blue topaz briolettes.  The stones encased within the finely woven gold enclosure represent the earth’s gift of precious resources and how we have a responsibility to ourselves – and to our children – to preserve and protect the priceless protection nature gives us and the abundant resourceful gifts it lends. The briolettes are also representative of the tears of both the indigenous community and the forest itself. With movement, the briolettes create a sound similar to rain. Through this interpretation I hope to raise awareness and funds in order to support environmental protection and justice in the Amazon. This is the gift that gives twice!

This will be available to buy exclusively from Victoria Tryon with all proceeds donated to support the small grants program. Funding from this initiative will be directed to urgent requests from indigenous communities.

This is a limited edition piece so be sure to get your order in early!

Spring is in the air

March 1st, 2010

Now that the website is live we have been constantly updating it with new products. I am delighted to have designers Deakin & Francis on board. Based in Birmingham, they are a family run company and have been producing some of the finest handmade cufflinks for seven generations, since 1786.  The quality is fantastic! I particularly love these cufflinks below as you can have the image of your own dog etched onto them. The perfect gift for the man who has everything.

Speaking of animals, I came across this picture which really made me smile!

It was taken by a great photographer called Ben Phillips who took most of the photographs featured here on the website.

I am working on designing a very special one off piece which I am so excited about. For now I cannot reveal any more but more to follow soon!

Welcome to Victoria Tryon!

January 19th, 2010

Welcome to Victoria Tryon everyone! This month I have been working on developing the new site which I hope you like. The collections I feature range from wearable everyday pieces to more unusual and striking pieces incorporating precious stones and diamonds for those looking for something more individual. And of course I offer a Bespoke service which I think is especially important when you want to mark a special occasion with something really striking and unique.

This season we have featured handmade pieces which have been inspired by nature created by designer Michael Michaud. Based in the US, Michael works with a variety of materials to capture all the beauty and exquisit detail of nature. I love the Blueberry and Raspberry earrings which add a bit of fun and colour to any outfit. However, the must have item in the collection is the ‘Pea Pods’ which incorporate fresh water white pearls. A real hit with our customers.

I had a party to launch my new business and my pet python Mali acted as the security guard for the evening! Rena Lange kindly provided the beautiful dresses and models who showcased some of the jewellery. It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by all.

I have a very busy month ahead as I am charging all over not only the UK but Europe and further afield, always on the look out for new and interesting pieces!

Do check the website regularly as I am constantly adding new items and with Valentine’s day around the corner…
